Common questions

Is 1in8bn free to play?

Yes. The game and all keepsake features on 1in8bn.com are free. You do not need a paid keepsake pass.

Do I need an account or a download?

No account or game download is required to start. Open the site in a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. Saved lives normally remain on that device.

How many countries can a life start in?

The game includes 172 countries. Birthplace odds depend on whether you choose annual births, population or equal country weighting.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes, the game supports touch controls and responsive mobile pages. Some media export formats depend on browser capabilities, so every download format is not guaranteed on every phone.

How do I move a saved life to another device?

Use Move my lives to export a backup, then import it in the destination browser. Export the destination lives first: importing replaces lives stored on that device. Automatic cross-device synchronization is not provided.

Can adult children work, marry, leave home or migrate?

Adult descendants can develop jobs, relationships, households and migration events as a life progresses. Some events offer a family decision; others happen through the simulation. Age, country, money, relationships and life state affect what is available.

What happens when a character needs intensive care?

A serious illness can lead to an intensive-care episode with treatment decisions and uncertain outcomes. Read the current event and its choices; survival is not guaranteed by paying for treatment. This is fictional gameplay, not medical advice.

Are my reflections automatically public?

No. Reflections stay in the local save unless you choose to include them when publishing a life. Check the publishing preview and options before sharing. Public memorial content is visible to other visitors.

What languages are available?

There are ten localized game entry points: English, Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Thai, Spanish and German. Some newer mechanics still have English fallback text. The reference library is in English.

Can another website embed the game?

Yes. Public game pages can be loaded in an iframe. Embedded saves may be partitioned by the host website, and browser restrictions may affect storage or exports. Link to the direct game so players can open it separately.

Does the game predict a real person’s life?

No. National statistics, simplified models and random fictional events create a simulated life. They do not predict an individual’s health, finances, relationships or lifespan.

Why did my save disappear?

A different browser, device, private-browsing session or embedded website can have separate storage. Clearing site data can also remove local saves. Import a previous backup if available; the site does not promise recovery of a deleted local save.
