# Third-party notices

The 172-country statistical dataset in `src/data/countries.json` is reused from
[rollroyces/born-somewhere](https://github.com/rollroyces/born-somewhere), commit
`c7cd3109456ceb22415cc9eba3f8f7cf73efa1b1`, retrieved on 20 October 2026.
The age-specific mortality model in `src/game/engine.ts` adapts that project's
independently rewritten Gompertz–Makeham calibration. The TypeScript engine,
seeded progression, branching choices, financial model, save validation and
message templates were independently implemented for this project.

The reference repository identifies UN World Population Prospects 2024, World
Bank WDI, WHO, UNESCO UIS, UNDP HDR, ILO, UNAIDS, UNODC, UNICEF and the World
Happiness Report 2024 as statistical sources. Figures are a reference snapshot,
may include estimates, and are not live measurements or individual predictions.
The `pop` field is measured in thousands; `im` and `u5` are per 1,000 births.
The `ppp` field is an annual purchasing-power reference in international dollars.
Missing happiness (`wh`) values remain `null`; they are not replaced with zero.

This project has no official affiliation with 1in8b.life. No license assertion
about the original website is made here. Original proprietary implementation,
story corpus, memorials and user records are not included.
